I've facilitated groups for years. Truly effective groups have some common characteristics and agreements that help them gel and get things done. Over time, I've collected thousands of group-generated norms.
I've found that the most profound group agreements fall into two big buckets - creating a culture of dependability and accountability, and playing well with others.
When group members can safely rely on each other to get work done, magic happens. Here's my current top ten favorite group norms, plus a couple of bonus norms.
