ENGAGEMENT OPTIONS

Clear monthly accounting. Specialized work scoped around the question.

Recurring accounting is offered through a small number of monthly frameworks based on the complexity of the books, reporting, and responsibilities your team retains.

Financial planning, tax, controls, analytics, systems design, and facilitation are scoped separately because the question, deliverable, timeline, and people involved vary. Before work begins, you receive a written proposal identifying responsibilities, cadence, deliverables, and fee.

Engagement Options

MONTHLY ACCOUNTING ENGAGEMENTS

Recurring support, organized around accounting complexity.

Financial planning, tax, controls, analytics, systems design, and facilitation are scoped separately because the question, deliverable, timeline, and people involved vary. Before work begins, you receive a written proposal identifying responsibilities, cadence, deliverables, and fee.

The engagement is defined by responsibilities—not by the card name. The proposal states what Relevant Strategies will perform, what your team will retain, what information is required, and what the recurring fee covers.

STRAIGHT FORWARD ACTIVITY

Core Monthly Accounting

For organizations that need a dependable monthly close and clear standard reporting without unusually complex funds, allocations, or reporting structures.

A TYPICAL SCOPE MAY INCLUDE:

  • Monthly bookkeeping and close

  • Bank and credit-card reconciliations

  • Transaction coding and account review

  • Standard monthly financial statements

  • Routine issue identification and follow-up

  • Coordination on recurring information needs

RESTRICTED FUNDS AND PROGRAMS

Fund, Grant & Program Accounting

For organizations whose monthly records must support multiple programs, grants, donor restrictions, payroll allocations, and more detailed board or funder reporting.

A TYPICAL SCOPE MAY INCLUDE:

  • Monthly accounting and close

  • Fund, grant, and program tracking

  • Payroll and benefit-account reconciliation

  • Accounts payable or receivable support, as scoped

  • Budget-to-actual reporting

  • Fund, grant, program, or board schedules

COMPLEX STRUCTRES AND REPORTING

Complex Monthly Accounting & Reporting

For organizations with complex funding, allocations, capital projects, significant transaction activity, or customized management, board, and funder reporting needs.

A TYPICAL SCOPE MAY INCLUDE:

  • Complex reconciliations and allocations

  • Capital project and restricted-resource tracking

  • Multi-dimensional program or funding reports

  • Customized management and board schedules

  • Coordination with the tax preparer and independent auditor

  • Historical issue resolution, when specifically scoped

BEFORE RECURRING WORK BEGINS

Cleanup, catch-up, conversion, and redesign are scoped separately

If the books need historical reconciliation, data cleanup, QuickBooks Online restructuring, conversion, or catch-up work before a reliable monthly close can begin, the initial project is assessed and quoted separately from the recurring engagement.

SPECIALIZED ENGAGEMENT

Defined around the question, outcome, and people involved.

These services are not sold as standardized packages. The written scope identifies the question, information required, deliverables, meetings, responsibilities, timeline, and fee. Some may recur on a limited schedule, but they are not open-ended management or on-call executive roles.

FOCUSED ADVISORY

Planning & Decision Support

Financial planning and analysis for the decisions ahead. We help leadership and boards understand cash, budgets, reserves, funding, risk, and available options through clearly scoped advisory engagements.

ANALYSIS PROJECT

Financial & Data Analytics

Trend and variance analysis, dashboards, program and fund reporting, and other tools that help leadership and boards understand what the numbers mean, not just what they say.

FILING ENGAGEMENT

Tax & Compliance

Preparation of Form 990 series returns and related federal and state filings, with careful attention to accuracy, governance disclosures, and clear communication throughout the process.

DESIGN AND IMPLEMENTATION

Financial Systems & Reporting Design

QuickBooks Online design and restructuring for nonprofits. We align accounts, programs, grants, workflows, connected tools, and reporting so the financial system better reflects how the organization actually works.

ASSESSMENT

Governance & Internal Controls

A practical assessment of financial controls, responsibilities, and oversight, sized for your organization. We identify risks, explain why they matter, and prioritize recommendations your team can realistically implement.

FACILIATATION AND PLANNING

Strategic Facilitation & Planning

Structured facilitation, planning, and stakeholder engagement, and decision support for complex organizational questions.

HOW PRICING WORKS

Two engagement structures. One commitment to clear scope.

The pricing method changes with the nature of the work, but the principle does not: you receive a written scope and fee before the engagement begins.

MONTHLY ACCOUNTING

Recurring fixed monthly fee

The fee covers the recurring responsibilities and normal activity defined in the engagement. When activity, complexity, or responsibilities change materially, the scope and fee are discussed before an adjustment is made.

SPECIALIZED ENGAGEMENTS

Fixed project fee or limited scope advisory

Pricing reflects the question, deliverables, data condition, analysis or design required, participants, meeting cadence, timeline, and implementation support. Additional work is undertaken only after the scope is revised or separately approved.

01

The responsibilities are written down.

02

The fee is known before the work begins.

03

Changes are discussed in advance.

04

Specialized work is not hidden inside a monthly package.

HOW PRICING WORKS

A clear answer before you commit.

Scoping is part of determining whether the engagement is useful and sustainable for both the organization and Relevant Strategies.

START WITH THE WORK

Let's scope the engagement that will actually help.

A short conversation is enough to understand whether the need is recurring monthly accounting, a specialized engagement, or a combination with separately defined responsibilities.
